To the Rohr Family Web Page

The Rohr family was originally from Hunzenschwil, Switzerland.  After his wife and infant died and left him to care for 7 children, Jacob Rohr came to the United States with his family.  He emigrated to New York state originally and settled there.  His oldest daughter Anna, met and married Joseph Meyer.  He was a man that was sickly.  Friends and family urged them to move to Wisconsin (then a territory) so that he could breathe fresh air and eat fresh food.

Jacob didn't want his daughter to move to the wilderness with a sick husband (who would take care of her if he died) and so he moved with her.  Some of the other children moved back to Switzerland but the younger children stayed with him and moved to Wisconsin too.

In Wisconsin, Jacob started an apple orchard.  When he retired, his orchard went to his son, Joseph Meyer.  Meyers Orchards still exists today and is located south of Milwaukee on 27th Street and Ryan Road.  His youngest daughter, Elizabeth, met and married Paul Noe Sr.  They are my great great grandparents. Joseph, Paul, and Elizabeth are some of the founding members of what is now known as the Painesville Meeting Hall.

The outline for this family is still under construction.  I'm hoping to have it online soon.
